A new update has been released for Need for Speed Unbound which introduces some rather interesting content. Dubbed as "Vol. 7: Drift & Drag," it adds the Drag and Drift modes to both PVP and Free Roam. Today we'll take a look at these different modes.

Drag Mode

Players should be happy to know that Drag Mode has been added in PVP and Free Roam. In this one, four players start the grid as they rev their engines. It brings everyone to the way of the Underground like lane switching and even manual gear shifting at just the right spot. However, there are also new things to look forward to like the tire warm up sequence to allow players to gain that Burst Nos.

This version also sees a combination of the old and new like the rev counter and gear change UI. By the way, this mode also offers some variation like 1/2 mile, 1/4 mile, and some longer strips.

Drift Mode

Also added in PVP and Free Roam is the Drift Pro Mode. In a post, the development team shared that this is something that they've been working on. It takes inspiration from Underground though it has a more streamlined scoring multiplier and chaining. There's also a new feature which is twin drifting. It's as you imagined which is being able to drift in tandem with the other players. By the way, players should be happy to know that collisions are off. Drift Pro events have eight players try to see who gets the biggest score possible.

Making things even more interesting in Drift Pro Mode is the addition of the Drift Pro tires. Players need this if they want to join this mode. It's not that expensive but a bit of cash may be needed to get them. Those who lack cash though need not worry since they can always get the loaner from none other than old Rydell.

League Mode

The game brings back The League Mode which is sure to revitalize the competitive spirit of Need for Speed Underground. It offers a richer solo player experience in Free Roam where players can challenge new Rival Racers in head-to-head battles across the volume to win their unique rides.

This feature also introduces a community challenge which needs collective effort to unlock the final boss and claim a new custom.

The new update introduces new Speed Pass to the game which you can learn more about here.

Need for Speed Unbound is available for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
