Here's Your First Look at Jeff Bezos' Cheap Electric Trucks

Slate Auto is the new Jeff Bezos-backed venture that promises an electric pickup for the low, low starting price of around $25,000. While we haven't seen the truck in full or know any of the official details, the automaker is apparently just leaving prototypes parked on street corners for all to see ahead of their debut.

Of course, the trucks and SUVs do wear a form of "camouflage," so as not to give away all the juicy details just yet. Our friends at The Autopian spotted one of the SUVs with a satirical "CryShare" logo and wrap, complete with a binkie on the hood and carseats on the roof rack. The slogan on the rear reads: "When baby drives you crazy, we drive them to sleep."

Reddit sleuths on the r/WhatIsThisCar subreddit spotted another two-door prototype that looks suspiciously like a Rivian R3 parked on the same street nearby. This version wears a purple wrap with cat logos promoting feline therapy. Hilarious.

Saw this in a tiktok ad, can yall tell what it is??

We don't know much about these vehicles beyond that. Slate previewed its new pickup/SUV in a collaboration with Newsweek a few weeks back, saying: "Slate aims to beat Tesla to the punch with an inexpensive compact electric vehicle for the everyman."

The company is shooting for a $25,000 entry price for its two-seat pickup, which would undercut every mass-market truck currently on sale, electric or not. The company has reportedly raised $111 million in Series A funding, with a portion of that funding coming from Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos.

We'll know all about what Slate has planned when the company officially debuts its new electric truck on April 24.
