Here’s why USC WR Jordan Addison could be a fit with the Chiefs

One receiver in the 2023 NFL draft class might have a very specific edge over all of the others when it comes to landing with the Kansas City Chiefs.

USC WR Jordan Addison spent the 2022 college football season working with QB Caleb Williams — who has oft been compared to Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. Does the comparison ring true? Addison certainly believes so.

“I think so,” Addison said. “He’s all himself, but I think it’s a great comparison. Just him being able to extend the play. His confidence, no matter what the score is, he always believes that he can win a game — and he can. Whenever we’re down, I don’t ever trip because I’ve got Caleb Williams.”

Sound familiar? It’s almost as if Addison were describing Mahomes and not Williams. It remains to be seen if the future USC quarterback can live up to those comparisons, but playing with a quarterback with similar intangibles and playstyle might be helpful for Addison. If he were drafted by Kansas City, he feels it’d be an advantageous situation.

“That would help a lot,” Addison said. “First of all, just being a rookie and all of the stuff that you’ve got to go through. So having a leader like (Patrick Mahomes), who has proven success. Him having confidence in you, that’s going to be great.”

Perhaps that’s just a little bit of manifestation in Addison’s comments at the end there with the 2023 NFL draft just a day away.
