Here's Why 'The Last of Us Part III' Is Not Happening
PlayStation announced that there is a new game that it is re-releasing in time for the upcoming series premiere of HBO's "The Last of Us" Season 2, which has been given the name "The Last of Us Complete."
The new release puts together the two games of "The Last of Us" series. This has led to speculations regarding the future of the series, particularly because of how it has been named.

Naughty Dog's 'The Last of Us' Development
Moreover, this also adds to the fact that "The Last of Us Part III" was never confirmed to be in development by the studio, Naughty Dog, and it was reportedly revealed that Druckmann has already shut down talks about the sequel.
The long development times of "The Last of Us" games are no longer new since "Part I" was released in 2013 and was only followed by "Part II" in 2020. Naughty Dog previously addressed a project connected to "The Last of Us," but it was not the "Part III."
That being said, this new project from the world of "The Last of Us" was ultimately canceled, with the studio previously confirming that it was the online multiplayer version.
Ellie's Story May Have Already Answered It
Moreover, players may also look back at the way "The Last of Us Part II" ended, especially as it tied the knot on its story that began with Joel and Ellie's acquaintance and adventure that turned sour.
While Ellie successfully overpowered Abby, Joel's killer, and had the chance to end her, she chose to let her nemesis live, and they went on their separate ways, only for Ellie to find that she was alone again after Dina departed.
Ellie then went on to play her guitar at the final moment of the story, closing the chapter for Joel and herself.
