Actor Saoirse Ronan is going viral for “gagging men” on The Graham Norton Show with her very serious response to a discussion about self-defence.
Ronan recently appeared on BBC’s The Graham Norton Show alongside fellow actors Denzel Washington and Paul Mescal when Eddie Redmayne touched on self-defence techniques he’d found interesting, including the use of a phone.
In response to Redymane’s findings and interest in unique self-defence techniques, Mescal said that he wouldn’t use a phone as an object of self-defence if he were to be attacked in public.
“If someone attacked me, I’m not gonna go ‘phone,'” Mescal joked, which resulted in a burst of laughter from the audience.

Following Mescal’s comment, it was obvious that Ronan wanted to chime in but unfortunately, the audience’s laughter was just too much. With punters laughing along to Mescal’s comment, the Normal People actor acted out what it would be like if he had to use his phone for self-defence.
After that little stint, Redymane sneaked in a quick and short response saying, “That’s a good point”, when finally, Ronan seized the opportunity to call attention to a very real issue.
“That’s what girls have to think about all the time,” Ronan shared which resulted in a brief silence amongst the panel of men, which she then broke with “am I right, ladies?”
The audience then cheered with the camera panning to Ronan doing a double shaka with a face that’s giving ‘this is a legit issue.’
