The next Overwatch seasonal event is about to get underway and once again, the game is celebrating the lunar new year. You’ll be able to unlock event skins old and new, and probably play some capture the flag when the 2021 Lunar New Year event starts on Thursday, February 4, likely at 2PM ET. It’ll run until February 25. The teaser hints that there’ll be a new D.Va highlight intro that turns her mech into a firework.
Recent Overwatch seasonal events have included weekly challenges, in which you can unlock an epic skin for winning nine matches in seven days. I’d wager we’ll see more of those here. Blizzard has also shaken up the limited-time game modes with some variations lately, so expect a bit more of the same here to celebrate the Year of the Ox.
Lunar New Year is getting underway slightly later than usual this year, perhaps because of the Hanzo skin challenge that took place in January to mark the arrival of the Kanezaka map. This will be the last seasonal event before BlizzConline in a couple of weeks, when we’ll finally learn a bit more about Overwatch 2.
