CONWAY GITTENS: What's the mindset that sets financially successful people apart from financially unsuccessful people?

SCOTT MAUTZ: Yeah, it comes right down to this, understanding that you can become mentally stronger. At the core of it is mental strength. I go back to the 6 core mental muscles again, the ability to be confident, to have great sense of resilience, to be bold when it's time to be bold, to stay focused on your goals, to make good decisions and to message positively to those around you, even in times of negativity and to stay positive, even in the face of negativity. I've seen it over and over again. And interestingly enough, a study that I've conducted many times, I've asked 3,000 executives at a time thinking of the highest achieving organizations that you've ever been a part of that overcame the most obstacles to achieve the best financial success.

What were the attributes of those leaders and those organizations at the time. Every time I asked this question, just over 90% of respondents, 3,000 respondents at a time describe mentally strong leaders, people that are confident, that have folk. They stay focused on their goals. They make great decisions. They have great sense of boldness and fortitude, all when it comes to their financial decisions for the organization. So I really do believe that mental strength is the self leadership superpower of our times, that it is the next EQ, it's the next emotional intelligence because EQ is just a part of it. It's the leadership, it's self leadership superpower of our times that can help you manage yourself internally so you can lead yourself better externally, whether it's financially or even personally at work and in life.
