Here's what's on in Scotland this week - Seven things for seven days

Glasgow comedian Gary Little is performing at the Edinburgh Fringe

1 SCONE Palace is where it’s at this week. The mighty Otherlands Festival hits one of Perthshire’s prettiest spots and the gardens of the palace will become a veritable cornucopia of cutting edge music, forward thinking independent art, comedy at the Pavilion Stage, glamping, vintage shopping stalls and a wellness sanctuary. There are street food pop up’ that are a foodie’s dream in the Gannet Grounds and my mouth is watering at the host of options.

The music is, as expected with a festival of this pedigree and expertise, phenomenal, Bicep will close out the weekend on the Frissonia main stage, coming to Otherlands on the back of their stand out set at Glastonbury.

Glasgow’s beloved Sub Club crew are hosting The Portal tent and you can dance yourself dizzy at The Fool’s Utopia. All of this, and peacocks – yes peacocks – roaming the grounds.

Get thee to the onetime home of royalty and have a royally excellent time. Opening noon this Friday and on until Sunday. For more info head over to www.otherlandsfestival.com

2 IT’S not this week, but it sells out so fast and its super fun. The one and only Soul Bowl night at Partickhill Bowling Club. Timeless Motown classics, northern soul floor shakers, mod gems and vintage vinyl on the decks, expertly spun by soul boy Davey dee. It costs £5 to get in, drinks are pocket friendly and you’ll have the time of your life. SaturdayAugust 27 at 7pm. Partickhill Bowling Club, 46 Partickhill road, Glasgow.

3 PUNK duo Deux Furieuses are coming to Glasgow Garage Attic on Sunday August 21. The band are taking a stand against male violence against women with their poignant new single Know The Score so if you like your punk with a side of defiant feminism, Ros Cairney and Vas Antoniadou are the ones for you.

Ros is Scottish and Vas is a Greek London-based drummer and the two of them have a mission to make kick-ass music with a kick-ass message. Grab your tickets to see them on Sunday. For more info, follow these fab women on the socials @deuxfurieuses

4 MARTIN Bearne is one of Scotlands finest funny guys. He’s doing a one man show at the fringe at Greenside at Riddles Court theatre every day at 14:55. Broken funnies.

5 ALSO at the Edinburgh Fringe is Scotland’s funniest man, Big Gary Little. Get down to The Beehive at the Grassmarket. The gigs are sold out at the weekends, but there are still some weekday tickets left for the totally bargain price of £7.50. The show starts every day during the fringe at 5:45pm. Tickets on the door or from the link below. Don’t miss him, he’ll be doing stadiums next year.

6 AWARD-WINNING Australian cabaret icon Reuben Kaye is an outrageous late-night staple. The Kayehole is his extremely adults-only variety show, and it curates the filthiest and freakiest of the Fringe for a full 90 minutes. A chic way to discover new artists to see the next day, as well as a deliciously chaotic way to start a big night out. The butch is back. 9:30pm every night at the Assembly Checkpoint.

7 ANDREW Dickson, Glaswegian artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and personal favourite of this column has released a new anthemic single Need You Near. Dickson mixes pure country storytelling genius with uplifting pop radiance that leaves you itching for more. The single is available everywhere you buy or stream your sounds. The single is released ahead of an upcoming homecoming gig, details to be announced soon. Follow him on the socials @andrewdicksonmusic
