Here's what's on in Scotland's cultural scene this week

1 SUMMER in the city where the air is still, a brand new terrace being born, it’s not overkill. The mighty SWG3 in Glasgow has a brand new spacious outdoor area which will be boasting a fully stocked bar, music from a rotation of most excellent DJs a barbecue from foodie giants Nomad and it will be open every Friday night starting this week. The new garden terrace forms apart of the ongoing community green space project in consultation with neighbours, resident artists and the wider community. 2 COMEDY at Candleriggs where two of my pals are headlining this gig at the old wild cabaret. Viv Gee – a veritable tiny giant of Scotland’s comedy scene – and the one and only drag queen Nancy Clench, made famous by, among other things, SNP conference karaoke. See them both under the one roof on the same night for the tiny sum of £8. Tonight 6:30pm for 7:30 kick off at 18 Candleriggs, formerly known as Wild Cabaret. 3 MICK Hucknall is holding back the years as Simply Red hit the road and ends up in bonnie Scotland this week, in the other Yes city no less. Slessor Gardens will be the scene of the crime from 4pm-10:30pm. They are to be supported by the one and only Mica Paris. Get on it like a car bonnet. Saturday July 23, Dundee. 4 FANCY a feminist book club? Course you do. Well the CCA have an informal group that meet there regularly and the next meeting is July 19 at 7pm. What could be finer? 5 DOUNE the Rabbit Hole has been on all weekend and the final day is today at the Cardross estate in Stirlingshire. The headliners tonight are Teenage Fan Club while on the other stages 808 state, the one and only Boney M and indy favourites Stanley Odd will be performing. The festival is a family friendly smorgasbord of fun. Four stages of magic, kid favourites The Singing Kettle, Unicorn Dance Party and Big Fish, Little Fish and Samba Ya Bamba will all bne appearing. 6 A PLAY a pie and a pint have gone all summer panto with the brilliant Goldiclocks goes to Greece, starring Ewan Somers, Rebekah Lumsden, Fraser Boyle and Rosie Graham. On every day this week, tickets are priced at £20 and that includes your pie and a pint (or a juice). Performances start at 1pm at Oran Mor at the top of Byres Road, Glasgow. 7 SUBBIE! Subbie! Subbie in the sun and for a wee change on the southside of Glasgow. Woohoo! Party on, excellent! The Sub Club Southside weekender wil feature all the legendary favourites from the legendary basement venure.
