New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is keeping things close to the vest in regards to whether cornerback J. C. Jackson will play on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
Jackson was acquired by the Patriots via trade with the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday. The former All-Pro corner is coming back to the place where he started his career in hopes of helping a Patriots secondary that has been battered with injuries.
Buy Patriots TicketsJackson battled injury issues during his time with the Chargers and struggled on the field as well. However, a change of scenery could do wonders as New England is in desperate need of depth. Christian Gonzalez is out for the season, while both Marcus Jones and Jack Jones are on injured reserve.
There’s hope that Jonathan Jones will be ready to return, but he’s listed as questionable to play in Sunday’s game. Jackson has been getting reps at practice as early as Thursday. It remains to be seen if that translates to him getting the green light to play against the Saints.
“We’ll see, we’ll see how it goes,” said Belichick.
