New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is focused on the Kansas City Chiefs and nothing else. He made that abundantly clear following an exchange between Robert Kraft and College GameDay host Pat McAfee on Saturday afternoon.
Kraft stressed the importance of winning, and McAfee said he didn’t envy the position the Patriots owner was in right now, while also acknowledging everyone knew what was about to happen. Things got uncomfortably awkward after those comments, before McAfee and Kraft shook hands and ended the segment.
Patriots fans took the comments as a hint towards the eventual firing of Belichick. However, the Patriots coach isn’t too worked up about it. In fact, he didn’t even acknowledge it at all when asked about it on Monday.
“Like you said, it’s week to week here this week against Kansas City,” Belichick said, when appearing on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show,” via NESN’s Zack Cox. “We’re going to focus on everything we can do to go out and play our best game of the year against KC.”
To be fair, the Patriots really will have their hands full, as they take on one of the best quarterback-tight end combos in Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The Chiefs are coming off back-to-back losses and will surely be looking to put quarterback Bailey Zappe and the Patriots to the test.
For Belichick, it’s on to Kansas City.
