The Green Bay Packers filled their 17-player practice squad ahead of Week 1 of the 2024 season.
The practice squad is comprised of nine offensive players, seven defensive players and one specialist. While a typical practice squad is 16 players, the Packers got an extra spot thanks to the International Player Pathway program.
Here’s the full practice squad:
QB Sean Clifford: 2023 fifth-round pick failed to win the No. 2 job this summer but could be elevated as Jordan Love’s backup if Malik Willis isn’t ready in Week 1.
RB Ellis Merriweather: Ran for 99 yards during the preseason. Tough runner who produced despite average run blocking this summer.
RB La’Mical Perine: 2020 fourth-round pick has three-down and special teams experience. Possible elevation early in the season as MarShawn Lloyd recovers from a hamstring injury.
FB Andrew Beck: Five-year NFL veteran who could fit into an H-back role for Matt LaFleur. Was a pre-draft visitor of the Packers in 2019.
WR Julian Hicks: Undrafted rookie has plus athleticism worth developing, especially after he made a couple of splash plays during the preseason.
WR Jalen Wayne: South Alabama standout and relative of Reggie Wayne spent time with the Bills and Browns as a rookie last year.
TE Messiah Swinson: The Packers picked Swinson, a big, inline blocker, over Joel Wilson, who flashed more receiving talent. He went undrafted out of Arizona State this year.
OL Lecitus Smith: 2022 sixth-round pick of the Cardinals. Can play guard or center, providing veteran versatility for the offensive line. Played 123 snaps for the Packers during the preseason.
OL Donovan Jennings: Undrafted rookie from USF with tackle experience but the athleticism and potential to develop into a valuable guard prospect. The Packers spent good money to get him to Green Bay. Injuries killed his chances of making a roster push.
DE Deslin Alexandre: Spent time with the Jets and Bears as a rookie last year before joining Packers. Was a standout during OTAs but got injured during camp.
DL James Ester: Undrafted free agent out of NIU. Deflected a pass that turned into an interception in the preseason.
LB Chris Russell Jr.: Undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M and former teammate of Edgerrin Cooper. Graded out highly over final two preseason games.
CB Robert Rochell: Veteran corner played snaps on defense and special teams for the Packers last season. Had a hip injury late in camp. Could be an early elevation possibility and a 53-man roster option should a corner get hurt in-season.
CB Kamal Hadden: Sixth-round pick of the Chiefs this year. The 23-year-old was on his way to a special season at Tennessee in 2022 before suffering a shoulder injury.
CB Kalen King: Seventh-round pick of the Packers this year. Flashed playmaking ability throughout the summer. Needs time to develop in the slot but the potential is there.
S Omar Brown: Visited the Packers pre-draft. Spent training camp with the Denver Broncos.
K Alex Hale (IPP): Undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State. Native of Australia. Will get a chance to develop as a kicking prospect in Green Bay and a backup option behind Brayden Narveson.
The Packers signed running back Nate McCrary to the practice squad following final cuts but then placed him on injured reserve on Friday.
