So, how can you safely navigate the electoral information you’ll read, hear and see during this federal election on May 3, 2025? We asked our pal Pat at the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) how to snag misleading electoral info.
If you take anything from Pat, it’s to stop and consider any electoral info you come across. Does it sound right? Is the info coming from a trusted source? Who made it? If it doesn’t pass the test, ignore it, or you can report it to the platform you saw it.
False and misleading information might be shared as a silly joke, but it can still damage our democratic system.
