Here's how other cities have rated Honest Burgers as it prepares to open in Cardiff

You might have heard by now that a popular burger chain is heading to Cardiff .

Honest Burgers, which has restaurants in London, Manchester and Bristol, will soon be joining the Welsh capital as part of the .

The chain has more than 20 sites across the English capital and was launched in 2011, and will be joined in Cardiff by Mowgli Street Food, Pho and the Botanist, once all the new places open for business.

However a number of our sister titles already have Honest Burgers restaurants on their patches - and they've reviewed them too.

The history of the burger

Here's what some of our sister websites in other cities have said about the hip burger bars.

Here's what the Manchester Evening News said:

"Burgers are big in Manchester. Although the burger rush has quietened down in recent years, the originals - Almost Famous, Solita, Archie's - still stand strong, with Get Chucked and Firebird Hope breaking through to join the fray.

"It's a local offering good enough to ward away most of the larger chain operators, with Byron Hamburgers closing two of their three restaurants in the city and Gourmet Burger Kitchen retreating to the captive audience of the Trafford Centre.

"Prices are on par with local rivals and it's certainly bedded in well, with a bit of a wait for a table on a Wednesday lunchtime (though that could well be the charity deal).

"Honest Burgers is full of good intentions, but the road back down south is paved with those. And although the chips are enough to elicit a stream of superlatives, are the burgers up to scratch?

"Honestly? There's room for improvement."

Get Reading described Honest Burgers as "a burger filled with award-winning yummy goodness"

The reviewer opted for The Reading Burger, saying: "The town's signature dish comes with smoked bacon, Barkham Blue cheese, Nomad roasted red pepper chutney, tomato, red onion and gherkins.

"The only change I made was removing the bacon and adding a pot of hot sauce for £1.

"The burger itself was so juicy it dripped, dribbling all over my hands and chin.

"But don't let that put you off! All those juices just made the burger taste even better."
