Married At First Sight (MAFS) intruder groom Teejay Halkias is in a bit of a rough patch with his ‘wife’ Beth Kelly. However, it’s one particular word he said during Wednesday night’s Dinner Party that sent viewers (and the cast) into orbit. I’m talking about his sudden love for the word “darling”.
Ever since Teejay and Beth entered the experiment, the pair have been flying under the radar until Homestays Week, when the former Big Brother contestant revealed that he hasn’t built an emotional connection with his ‘wife’.
On Wednesday night’s episode, Beth vented her frustrations with her co-stars at the Dinner Party, stating that she was “blindsided” by Teejay’s switch up — which was very reminiscent of Dave Hand‘s antics from last week, IMO.
However, during the squabble, Teejay suddenly kept on using the word “darling” when referring to Beth.
MAFS fan-fave Jamie Marinos was the first to notice this pattern and proposed a drinking game to the whole group, urging her castmates to take a sip everytime Teejay said the pet name during the argument.
“The way he says ‘darling’ is patronizing,” Jamie said to Awhina Rutene, who replied, “I’ve never heard that before out his mouth.”
The incoming “darlings” were so overwhelming, it even got to a point the experts joined in on the drinking game.

Only counting the “darlings” dropped during the Dinner Party, Teejay said a total of 13 darlings during that whole argument.
However, I do want to take into account that producers could’ve easily edited the darlings in for that reality TV je ne sais quoi.
But expert, Alessandra Rampolla, did make a comment that Teejay dropped “133 darlings too many”.
