Here are three times Glasgow is spotted in the new Indiana Jones Movie

Glasgow residents will be thrilled to hear that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has finally been released on the big screen, which includes scenes shot in the city.

In July 2021, streets in the city centre were closed down and transformed to double as the New York suburb of Manhattan. Many locals will remember seeing countless American flags, storefronts, and cars being shipped in for the scenes. And the good news is these scenes all made it into the final cut of the movie.

The fifth and final instalment of the series includes stars, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, and of course the actor who plays the renowned archeologist, Harrison Ford.

Glasgow Live sat down and counted the number of times you will see Scotland's biggest city in the movie with streets such as Cochrane Street, Renfield Street, and St Vincent Street all making notable appearances.

The first location in the city that you will spot in the brand-new Hollywood blockbuster is none other than Glasgow City Chambers. Located on George Square, the city chambers are home to Glasgow City Council.

In the movie, however, the angle of the shot is from Cochrane Street where you can view the iconic pillars and arched entrances that so many locals will be familiar with.

In the film, this is where the baddies are inconspicuously attempting to track down Indiana Jones and Helena Shaw but all hell breaks loose later on in the scene.

The second location is, of course, St Vincent Street and St Vincent Place. Many residents will remember that the two streets were transported back in time to resemble the 1960s for a parade to celebrate the moon landing.

No cost was spared, to make sure the streets in Glasgow resemble the ones of New York with Manhattan-style street signs, food vans, and even a few yellow taxis thrown in to add the finishing touches.

In the movie, all hell has now broken loose, and the chase between the villains and Indiana Jones is in full flight causing chaos for pedestrians enjoying the celebratory motorcade.

The third and final location filmed, in Glasgow, for the last instalment of the Indiana Jones franchise, is on Renfield Street.

If you thought that the production behind the film was extravagant enough you will be surprised to hear movie producers even went as far as creating a fake subway stop.

Harrison Ford, on horseback, can be seen galloping down the stairs away from pursuers chasing him in one of the last scenes you spot Glasgow in.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was released in cinemas on June 28 and is available to watch now.
