Well, yesterday I wrote about how Bungie needs to tell us what the deal is with transmog, at least to the point where they can say whether we need to physically hold on to a piece of armor, or simply having in in collections is enough for future conversion.
They are not saying, and ahead of Beyond Light, that has made for some tough choices for those trying to clear out their vault. While I personally have taken the plunge and deleted most of my legendary armor, I know why everyone else is more hesitant. But that’s why I’ve….gone through literally every armor set in the game in an effort to tell you what is for sure safe to dismantle, because you can still pull a copy of many sets from collections if need be. But for about half the sets, that isn’t true.
For the most part, this is split into being Year 1 sets being safe to dismantle, as they can all be pulled from collections, but Year 2 and 3 sets are not. But it gets complicated because some sets of have been reissued, and collections does not exactly make this easy to sort through.
One thing to note, you can mostly only pull sets for the class you are currently on. So while on my Titan, it looks like I can pull the Phoenix Strife Crucible set but I cannot pull the Hunter’s Swordflight set, you can indeed pull that if you switch to Hunter. And so on.
So, here’s the list. I think it comes down to around 25 sets that are safe to get rid of and 27 are not, though “safe” also includes every white, green and blue set, in case you liked any of those looks and were saving them. Here’s the grand list:
