That's the message from Consumer Reports, which puts together an annual list of the most satisfying new vehicles to own.

"The models that top the owner satisfaction ratings deliver on the manufacturer’s promises, whether they’re for performance or fuel efficiency," the independent product testing organization said.
After their homes, a car is probably the most expensive item many people will buy.
The average price paid for a new non-luxury vehicle in February was $44,697, according to Cox Automotive, and while that may be down $681 from January, it's still a lot of dough. So you want be satisfied with your purchase.
"What we’ve found is that models that promise luxury, fuel and energy efficiency (gas or electric), or pulse-quickening performance—and actually deliver—are often the ones that most satisfy owners," Consumer Reports said.
Separate Categories for EVs and Hybrids
"The regular, workaday vehicles are fine because they get the job done, but they don’t do anything to excite people," the group added.
For 2023, Consumer Reports included separate categories for hybrids and electric vehicles, as well as the compact and midsized pickup truck categories.
The Rivian (RIVN) R1T was a fan favorite in the electric vehicle category, even as the EV upstart faces some serious challenges regarding its cash position.
Toyota's (TOYOF) Camry Hybrid took top honors in the hybrid category, while the Toyota RAV4 Prime was the best in the hybrid SUV listing.
Under compact cars, Mazda's Mazda3 got the most thumbs up from owners and the Toyota Camry ranked highest in the midsize/large car category.
Customers give high marks to Hyundai's (HYMTF) Genesis G70 in the compact luxury car listing and also had lots of love for the Genesis G80 under the midsize-large luxury car category.
Now with the sports cars, motorists came on strong for General Motors' (GM) Chevrolet Corvette, And the Toyota Sienna won big in the minivan sector.
