Found across the length and breadth of the country, these spots are ideal for those looking to partake in a traditional Christmas or Boxing Day stroll.

To create the ranking, Go Outdoors looked at a range of metrics, including average rainfall, average daylight hours as well as Google Reviews ratings.

According to researchers, the East Lothian beach is "very popular" with families and has an adventure playpark, a "great" network of nature trails, and a BBQ site.

The Yellow Craig Caravan Site is also just a three-minute walk from the beach, making it ideal for families looking for a getaway.

Machir Bay took second place and is close to the Kilchoman Distillery, a spot famous for its single malt whisky

Visitors can also spot birds here such as waders as well as otters and seals.

In third place was Killantringan which offers a view of Killantringan Lighthouse.  Visitors can follow a marked trail to the private lighthouse and enjoy the sandy landscape.

The beach is surrounded by rocky cliff tops, making it hard to reach in adverse weather conditions.

It is always best practice to check the weather before visiting the beach.
