The Fortnite season 8 battle pass has arrived, and if you completed enough Overtime challenges in the last two weeks, you were able to get it for free. So what did all that hard work get you? Access to a number of new skins, a bunch of which have unlockable styles, more so than we’ve ever seen before.
We are continuing the tradition of having two tier 1 skins with unlockable styles, so even if you barely make progress, you get access to what are the two most advanced skins of the pass. So, let’s begin the rundown here:
Blackheart

Everyone has access to Blackheart, a pirate captain who is featured in the week 1 loading screen, and eventually grows a larger and larger beard until the beard apparently corrupts him and turns him into a possessed zombie skeleton ghost, which is his ultimate unlockable style. There are multiple colors for both his base and final forms you can unlock in addition to the different tiers as well.

Hybrid

Judging from the cinematic trailer, we can gather that Hybrid is a ninja henchman of the Fire King. His unlockable style has him slowly breaking out of his ninja garb and turning into a fully-fledged lizard. He too has a bunch of different colors you can unlock if you achieve certain objectives, be they challenges or XP.

Sidewinder

Peely

But if you want to stand out, that’s what Peely is for, I guess. The banana skin was teased in the run-up to season 8, and now that he’s here, I love him. He appears to be a literal banana person, not just a person in a banana costume, which is fantastic. His hitbox feels like it could be rather tall, though? And you’re not exactly hard to spot on the battlefield.
Ember

I mean, she is literally a WoW Night Elf, right down to the animation style. I am not quite sure what Night Elves have to do with this treasure hunting theme (well, we did just have a living banana skin I guess), but as part of the “Ashen Guard” set I would guess she is part of the Fire King’s crew in some capacity.
Master Key

Here’s an interesting one. At tier 87 you get Master Key, who is definitely grown-up Naruto. And then at tier 99 you unlock his tiger mask, which has been seen in promotional materials for season 8. I thought he was going to be the tier 1 or tier 100 skin, but I guess not.

Luxe

Tier 100 is finally a female skin, for the first time ever. Luxe has been the covergirl of season 8 in all the loading screens, and she too has unlockable styles. Though not as advanced as I was expecting. See all of those here in an article we dedicated just to her.
So what do you make of these? Good pass? Bad pass? I’m leaning toward good, ultimately, I think, but as ever the best skins are usually saved for the store.
