Lucas Herbert has put himself in contention going into the final round of LIV Golf Singapore.
The Australian shot a flawless five-under second round of 66 to be tied third, three shots behind joint leaders Dustin Johnson (68) and Joaquin Niemann (64) who were at 11 under.
Herbert compiled three birdies and an eagle at the par 5 seventh in his round at Sentosa Golf Club on Saturday and was tied with Americans Cameron Tringale (67) and Jason Kokrak (66).
Cameron Smith was a further three shots back in a tie for 10th after posting a 70.
But the other two Australians were well back, with Matt Jones (70) tied 31st at even par and Marc Leishman equal second-last at eight over following his second round 76.
The all-Australian Ripper team of Herbert, Smith, Jones and Leishman was sitting tied seventh in the team competition, but 15 shots behind Johnson's 4Aces team - also including Thomas Pieters. Patrick Reid and Harold Varner III - who led at 20 under.
