Henry Cejudo wants to be first three-weight UFC champion before Conor McGregor

Henry Cejudo wants to beat Conor McGregor in the race to become the first-ever three-weight champion in UFC history.

Cejudo, who has previously won belts at flyweight and bantamweight, has announced he will re-enter the USADA testing pool ahead of a UFC return. 'Triple C' is targeting a fight with featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, who defended his belt last weekend at UFC 273.

The American is one of just four fighters to have previously won belts in two weight classes. Former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor has planned to win a third belt later this year by calling out welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

Cejudo hasn't fought in almost two years but is adamant he could still beat Volkanovski, who is unbeaten in over 20 fights. "I know if I fight Alexander Volkanovski I can still beat him," he said on 'The Triple C and Schmo Show'.

"It's not about me killing him it's just about him beating him, outsmarting and outwitting him. I still believe that I do have the ability, speed, wrestling, experience, IQ and toughness to really challenge him like that. It's up to the fans and to Dana White, I'm all about it and they know I'm all about it.

"I've said it before if me and Alexander can make a payday off of this, I can become the first triple champ or he can shut up the 'King of Cringe'. It'll be a treat for everybody and I know everybody will tune in to watch."

Cejudo's manager Ali Abdelaziz confirmed his fighter's return, telling MMA Fighting: “Henry is one of the greatest fighters ever seen. I think the fans and all of us wanna see him come back. He is gonna focus on his fighting stuff, I’m gonna focus on the business side of things. I believe we will see him back end of the summer.”

There has also been talk of a fight between the former double champions, with Cejudo mocking McGregor's training footage and calling him out for a fight. McGregor has posted several clips of him hitting pads recently as he continues to recover from a broken tibia.

Although Cejudo would be willing to bulk up to lightweight for the fight, McGregor intends to return at 170-pounds later this year. The Irishman has also played down the fight by telling Cejudo: "Mate, I don't give two f**** about you. You are a nobody. Who the f*** even are you? You are a little skid mark to me, stop messaging me, thanks."
