Henry Cejudo tells Conor McGregor to "take notes" in latest swipe at star

Henry Cejudo has told Conor McGregor he must "take notes" on his technique as the pair's Twitter war of words continues.

Both former double champions, Cejudo and McGregor have been going back-and-forth on social media for the last few weeks, with the Irishman often deleting his responses to the American. Cejudo tends to allow his posts to stay up, and has now told McGregor that he should be learning from watching his fight with Dominick Cruz in 2020.

Cejudo defeated the legendary two-time bantamweight champion Cruz in May of 2020 at UFC 249; the first sporting event back from coronavirus lockdown. Their fight was a back-and-forth one that saw the champion cut, but ultimately he managed to stop Cruz with a massive knee, although the stoppage was protested.

And commenting on his own video analysing the fight, Cejudo took another jab at McGregor by noting that he still had a lot to learn. "Yo, Conor, take notes," he tweeted. "This is what I’m talking about distance combine with the right timing. Sincerely - The technical savage."

The footage shows Cejudo and Cruz late in the second round of their meeting as they posture at one another looking for an opening. Cruz gets low to try and throw over the top and gets caught cleanly with a big knee, which sees the fight stopped shortly after.

Generally, the Irishman will respond to his rival's posts, but it appears that he has decided to leave this one alone for the time being. He has previously branded Cejudo a "fat novice" and mocked him for his lack of KO power, despite his impressive stoppage wins over Cruz, TJ Dillashaw and Marlon Moraes.

Cejudo has been offering tongue-in-cheek analytical breakdowns of McGregor's pad work in recent social media videos. The Irishman is working his way back from a broken leg, and as yet has only been able to box on the injury as he awaits clearance for MMA sparring.

The 33-year-old recently hit back at his rival's latest criticism in a lengthy rant while refusing to accept his advice. "God bless you. Hold on tight," McGregor tweeted. "I just want to crush the head not hold.

"I'll be there on bottom fighting 'evil' if I 'overthrow' my hips, over throw; nice word. Come back and hit a throw. Whatever after that, launch someone. Make the splash kiddo. You a fat mess the last 24. Truth."

Cejudo himself has been flirting with the possibility of making his own return to the octagon after over two years away. He retired following the win over Cruz in an effort to get more money from the promotion, but was instead allowed to hang up his gloves.

Now, he is looking to become an historic three-weight champion by defeating Alexander Volanovski for the featherweight belt. However, promotional boss Dana White insists that he must return with a win at the weight first before he can get a title opportunity.
