Help keep Lanarkshire Staffy Roxy warm at night as appeal made for donations

A rehoming centre in Lanarkshire is appealing for the public's help to provide dogs with blankets and bedding to keep them warm.

Scottish SPCA's Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre are calling on kind-hearted Glaswegians to donate items to the Bothwell Road centre - which helps find the pets a new and loving home.

Roxy, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, hasn't had the best start to life and was "very fearful" when she first arrived at the Lanarkshire sanctuary.

Since being in their care, she is learning to love life again and your donations will help keep her feeling happy and comfortable until she finds a new home.

The centre manager, Gillian Boyle said: “We are currently in need of some sturdy blankets for the animals at the centre, like Roxy who loves to keep warm and cosy at night.

“Since being in our care Roxy has gradually improved. She absolutely adores playtime with either with her favourite humans or on her own. Soft toys seem to be a big favourite.

“Your donated blankets will help to keep her feeling happy and comfortable until we find her a new home.

“We can accept second hand blankets as long as they’re in good condition and laundered. We can also accept hand-knitted or crocheted blankets.

“Unfortunately, we are unable to accept duvets or pillows. If an animal rips one of these items, this can be a serious choking risk.

“We are so thankful for any donations you can spare so that we can continue to provide the best possible care for the animals at our centre.”

Blankets can be purchased from the centre’s Amazon wish list or via any other online retailer offering direct delivery to the centre.

Items can also be dropped in to the centre reception daily between 1pm and 4pm at Scottish SPCA Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre on Bothwell Road, Hamilton, ML3 0SB.
