'Hell of a fight' - Andy Robertson makes Liverpool admission before return

Andy Robertson has told how he knows he is in for a 'hell of a fight' when he returns to action for Liverpool next month.

The Reds closed the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City to nine points with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp’s side, currently enjoying some time off as a result of the winter break, are due to return to action at the start of February.

As well as the Premier League title race with City, the Reds also have a Champions League tie against Inter Milan, an FA Cup clash with Cardiff City, and the Carabao Cup final with Chelsea to look forward to.

But before all that, Robertson, along with team-mates Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner, have been enjoying the sun in Dubai playing in the Desert Classic Pro-Am golf tournament.

The Reds trio were paired with South African star Chart Schwartzel, the winner of the Masters back in 2011.

And Robertson, who also enjoyed a chat with Bob MacIntyre, said: “Dubai never lets you down, does it?

“Sometimes a break is good, sometimes not so good, and in the back of my mind I know I am going back to a hell of a fight with Liverpool and Scotland.

“But it’s important to try to switch off, do the things you love and enjoy the nice weather. There’s been no co-ordination between us all about coming out here.

“It’s just a popular spot and a popular sport among players. Football is so intense you need to try to recharge the batteries and come out firing and golf is a great way to relax.”

Before the full-back added on his round with Schwartzel: “That was the best hole (the 18th) for all of us. We played it in six under, with Charl getting an eagle as well and Alex and myself getting birdies.

“We were getting excited at that point but unfortunately the good stuff dried up on our back nine.”
