Helicopter out over River Mersey searching for missing man

A coastguard helicopter was spotted flying over the River Mersey in the early hours of the morning in connection with a missing person appeal.

Merseyside Police confirmed that the force, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and coastguard were at Princes Parade, around 2am on Monday, March 7, looking for a missing man.

John Noon has been missing from home since last night, at around 8.30pm on Sunday, March 6.

Th 63-year-old, from Walton, was last seen at the Princes Parade area, near the waterfront.

He is described as being white, of slim build, with short grey hair.

When he was last spotted, he was wearing dark blue jeans, brown boots and a light grey/black Rab bubble jacket.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are urgently appealing for help in finding a 63 year-old man who is missing from home in Liverpool.

"John Noon, who is from the Walton area, was last seen on Princes Parade in Liverpool at around 8.30pm last night, Sunday 6th March.

"He is described as a white male, of slim build, with short grey hair.

"When last seen he was wearing dark blue jeans, brown boots and a light grey/black Rab bubble jacket.

"Anyone who has seen Mr Noon, or anyone fitting his description, is asked to DM @MerPolCC or call 101.
