Two people have died after a helicopter crashed in a field near Burton in Lonsdale, North Yorkshire.
Emergency services rushed to the scene near Bentham Road shortly before midday.
“Two people were sadly killed as a result of the crash,” North Yorkshire Police confirmed on Monday.
“Their families are being supported by specially trained officers.”
An investigation is underway into the cause of the crash near Ingleton.
There is a full road closure at the A65 and at the junction of Bentham Moor Road.
People are urged to continue to avoid the area.
“We thank local residents for their patience and co-operation,” North Yorkshire Police said.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said it has been notified of an accident involving a light helicopter.
“An investigation has been launched and a team of inspectors are travelling to the accident site to begin making enquiries,” it said.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service attended the incident and dispatched a number of resources.

A plume of smoke could be seen rising from the ground.
