Eyewitnesses also reported seeing a drone in the air as Coastguard officials walked along the beach and over the sand dunes. Merseyside Police have now confirmed they're responding to an ongoing incident in relation to a high risk missing person.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said the incident is of no concern to the wider public.
An eyewitness told The ECHO they saw somebody being put into the back of an ambulance near the beach just moments after the police helicopter left the scene.
