Helensburgh mum is overwhelmed from joy daughter's viral video has brought to people

A Helensburgh mum whose little girl attracted praise after she continued dancing after falling down during a display is “overwhelmed” with the “joy and happiness” the viral video has brought to people.

Four-year-old Lucy Clark was dancing at Loch Lomond shores last Sunday at Summerfest to raise money for Children In Need with her Margaret Rose Dance School.

Lucy was doing a traditional Scottish sword dance when she, unfortunately, took a tumble during her routine, but to the delight of onlookers, Lucy got up and continued her performance.

A video of this went viral online, amassing over 1 million views at the time of writing, with proud mum Ammie Clark commenting on how resilient her daughter was, she said: “It was quite incredible.

“That was the first time where something has gone a bit wrong in the dance, so I didn’t know how she would react.

“But, within a second, she tried to fix her sword, and she kept going.

“I am so proud of the way she handled it.

“Lots of kids could have easily got upset, but the way the crowd got behind her spurred her on.

“She is quite a confident wee girl, and she is so resilient in that she was able to just get up and get on with it.

“That is Lucy through and through, she’s determined by nature, and she sees things through till the end.”

Lucy has been dancing since May 2021 and had only learned the dance in the video in March of this year.

The viral video has also attracted the attention of many celebrities, including Lorraine Kelly, who called her a “wee lamb”, alongside comedian Jane Godley who said: “She fell down and got up again so quickly and carried on. A life lesson for us all.”

Ammie has been overwhelmed with the feedback, she said: “The reaction has been a bit strange, the whole experience.

“It is a bit overwhelming seeing the amount of folk that have seen your child doing her hobby at the end of the day.

“It is great to see that it brings people so much joy and happiness.

“As a parent, your own child brings you joy and happiness anyway, but to see that she has touched other people across the world.“
