Helen Wood's life now worlds away from sex worker who bedded Wayne Rooney

Helen Wood has come a long way since she hit headlines for her involvement with Wayne Rooney while working as a sex worker more than a decade ago.

The former sex worker famously bedded the footballer in a threesome along with fellow escort Jenny Thompson.

Helen sold her story, which the married star, whose wife Coleen Rooney was pregnant with the couple's first child, tried to deny at first.

Now aged 35, she was introduced to the Manchester United player in July 2009.

Helen and Jenny were paid by another player to take part in a racy night of group sex at the luxury Lowry hotel in Manchester.

Helen later said Wayne was “full of remorse” after they had sex, the Mirror reports.

She said he showed her pictures of Coleen’s ultrasound scans, warning her that news of their encounter couldn’t get out as he had “so much to lose”.

Coleen was five months pregnant with the couple's eldest son Kai at the time of the encounter.

Helen said she has slept with four multi-millionaire footballers, three actors and a high-profile judge, but it was her tryst with Wayne that made her an unexpected household name.

“After we had sex he brought up the fact that he was going to become a dad soon. I asked him if he was all right, and he replied, ‘I don't know why I've just done that,’” she told MailOnline in 2019.

Jenny went public and while the footballer’s lawyers tried to suppress the story, news emerged of Wayne’s infidelity shortly before he was due to go to South Africa to play for England in the 2010 World Cup.

Helen later sold her story for £40,000, and in a tell-all book about her life.

In 2019's A Man's World, Helen revealed she’s ditched sex work and has been caring for her mother who suffers from dementia.

She also took part in the non-celebrity version of Big Brother in 2014 where she worked hard to change opinions about her.

She ended up scooping the £100,000 prize and then penned a regular column for the Daily Star newspaper until 2017.

She’s now ditched the limelight, and prefers instead to spend time with her son and beloved dog Bruno.

Helen deleted her Instagram account, declaring the app to be full of “t*ssers”.

“Deleted Instagram because of the amount of t*ssers on there, twitters slowly turning into Instagram… under 25s need to f**k off!” she tweeted back in 2020.

Her bio reads only, “cosmetic tattooist”, and her recent posts reveal she’s currently living in Dublin.

She posted a poignant quote on Twitter in November last year, which read: “Healing yourself can be offensive to people that benefited from your brokenness.”
