Helen Skelton told her dance skills are 'lacking' hours before Strictly debut

Ahead of the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, Helen Skelton has been well and truly put in her place by none other than her kids' mates. Posting on her Instagram stories, the Countryfile presenter said that her kids' footy pals told her that her dancing skills are severely lacking.

This is certainly not what Helen wants to hear just hours before the first episode is due to air. Having been pushed back due to the Queen's funeral, the first pre-recorded Strictly episode will hit our screens on BBC One at 7pm tonight.

The first of the live shows will then premiere tomorrow evening (Saturday, September 24). Helen joins a host of other celebs, including Ellie Simmonds, Kaye Adams and Will Mellor.

But far from being praised for her dancing prowess, Helen has actually been given some bad news. She wrote in a post on her Instagram story: "At the kids footy and my boys pals have just told me bluntly my dance skills are lacking but my keepy ups are decent."

In the video, Helen asks: "All the things that could have been said to me this week, what did you just say to me Oscar?" To which he replies: "She's the next Lucy Bronze."

Helen then turns to the camera and says: "I'm the next Lucy Bronze, Darcey Bussell? I wish! Lucy Bronze? Yes!" Referencing the England Women's national team right-back, Lucy Bronze, and former ballerina, Darcey Bussell.

However, though the little ones do not seem to be putting much stock on Helen's dancing skills, the bookies certainly are. Helen is currently joint-first to win the show, sharing 7/1 odds with Fleur East.
