Helen Skelton shares son's family wish amid live link chaos on ITV's Lorraine show

Helen Skelton has shared her son's sweet family member request following her return to South Yorkshire for a new series of Channel 5's Springtime on the Farm.

The Blue Peter and Countryfile presenter will once again host the programme with Jules Hudson at Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley. While talking about tonight's upcoming episode on Lorraine this morning, April 11, Helen revealed her son made a special request before she headed to work.

She told Christine Lampard, who has stepped in for Lorraine this week: "My little boy said to me this morning when I left for work 'can you bring those two little goats home?' And my dad just looked at him said: 'we haven't got a shed for them because if you could, you'd end up taking everything home'.

"The animals here are definitely the stars of the show. There is a reason that people come and they look for Jon Bon Pony and they look for Ted the Highland bull. Biscuit and Waffle, the little goats I introduced you to before - I think they just put a smile on people's face and that's the wonderful thing about animals."

She added: "Very, very humbling, very grounding and just nice to be around. They are definitely the stars of the show around here for sure."

The mum-of-three, who moved from Leeds back to her native Cumbria in October, currently lives at her parents' farm and said championing British farmers was one of the "missions" for this year's series. During the live broadcast, Helen also experienced technical difficulties and was suddenly unable to hear Christine in the studio.

Smiling at the camera, Helen said: "I'm not sure if a lamb has chewed my cable but I can't hear a word Christine is saying."

Christine told viewers: "Oh, I think she has, she's gone. That's what happens live on the farm, isn't it. We'll try and get her back, there's lots happening on the farm with Helen this morning. Hopefully were are going to have little lambs live on air here."
