Helen Skelton jokingly revealed a 'ban' from Strictly Come Dancing as she starred on her new Channel 5 show. The presenter, who is currently competing in the BBC One dance contest alongside Gorka Marquez, ditched the sparkles for her wellies as she hosted Winter of the Farm.
The series returned in its latest guise, following its Spring and Summer editions, with Helen and co-host Jules Hudson reporting live from Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley in South Yorkshire. And 39-year-old Helen's appearance at the helm of the programme was a stark contrast to how Strictly fans saw her last week.
Viewers and judges were blown away as the pair performed a sizzling routine to Mein Herr from the musical Cabaret during the quarter-final. Mum-of-three Helen looked sensational in a black corseted outfit with smokey eye makeup, dark lipstick and with her blonde hair worn slicked back. And Gorka went all out with his attire too, donning his own corseted number with additional smokey make-up.
But despite going back to her presenting day job, her Winter On The Farm co-host couldn't help but mention her newly founding dancing prowess.: "The huge elephant sized glitterball in the room, you getting to the semi finals of Strictly Come Dancing," he said referring to the fact that Helen and Gorka are among the final five couples in the competition.
"What about that! What a journey you have been on, surely we're going to see some moves tonight?" Jules then asked. But former Blue Peter presenter Helen was quick to play down any chance of bringing her moves to the farm in Yorkshire, as she told him: "I've been having so much fun and I'm really grateful for all of the support.
"But I can't show you a move. If I even think about dancing the BBC will get their knickers in a twist. It will set off a Strictly alarm. Craig Revel Horwood will rush in here and wrestle me to the ground."
Jules then added: "Well in that case I just wanna say that we are so proud of you and hopefully you will be holding that Glitterball in a couple of weeks' time." But Helen hastily replied: "Don't jinx it," before adding: "But that only happens if you vote," as she turned to the camera and addressed viewers directly.
Taking to Instagram after the show, Helen shared a photo alongside Jules which was quickly flooded with support from her fans and followers. "Thanks for watching!!" the Countryfile star typed. "@onthefarmc5 live all this week from 8pm @channel5_tv highland cows, donkeys, bulls, home mad gin, deer and vets. @thejuleshudson."
Fellow TV star Angelica Bell commented: "Amazing. Gurl, you are a warrior." @daisey02 said: "So lovely to have you back." @rose.scott1957 replied: "Brilliant show , Helen your confidence shines." @beveridge_marc wrote: "It was good tonight and you were looking gorgeous as always."
@crossstitcher typed: "Fabulous best show on television can’t wait for tomorrow." @gillian.simons echoed: "Loved watching the show, great to have you back. Can't wait until tomorrow." @davidelliott9056 added: "It is such a heart warming programme it is one of my favourites you are such a brilliant presenter Helen and so down to earth."
