Helen Skelton was due back on our TV screens on Tuesday night (April 11) but her return faced a sudden setback after she was seen on Instagram being 'spat on'. The presenter was due to front Springtime on the Farm on Channel 5 as the programme made a comeback months after its winter run.
Helen, 39, was preparing to be back on-screen with her co-stars live from Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley with the episode expected to be focused on welcoming some adorable four-legged friends to the farm amid lambing season. However, those tuning in to watch the show were baffled to find themselves watching a repeat episode.
They quickly took to social media to question what had happened to the new episode and shared their disappointment. However, Channel 5 were quick to respond and explained on social media that the live episode had to be pulled due to a technical error.

In a statement, Channel 5 apologised and told fans that the show would be back on Wednesday night (April 12) instead when the new series would, hopefully, begin. The broadcaster said in a tweet: "Apologies, we've had a technical issue with today's planned Springtime on the Farm. It will be back tomorrow at 8pm as planned, all new."
Before the episode failed to air, Helen shared her excitement at being back on the farm in an Instagram post. The 39-year-old former Blue Peter host was all smiles as she posed for the camera and looked gorgeous in a khaki green ensemble as she sported a smart pair of trousers with a white tee and v-neck jumper.
She layered up with a back denim jacket under a long-line coat before accessorising with a chunky gold necklace and burnt orange beanie hat with covered some of her blonde locks which had been styled into curls.
"We are BACK for spring …..lots of new arrivals 8pm. @onthefarmc5 @channel5_tv," she captioned the post which prompted fellow TV star Julia Bradbury to reply: "Nice gear darling. Hope the animals are all happy." And fans were also quick to compliment Helen and share their excitement for the new show which, of course, didn't make it to air when it was expected.

Lovely farm gear." @addyrosie2013 replied: "Can't wait for this. Looking so beautiful Helen as always." @peclarke1 added: "So looking forward to seeing you on the farm tonight, love your outfit."
Despite the show not being on air, fans did get a sneak preview over on On the Farm's Instagram page. But things didn't appear to go well for Helen as she was 'spat on'. She appeared alongside Matthew Jackson-Smith, the show's mixed practice vet, and they were joined by an alpaca.
"Our pal @matt_thevet from @yorkshirevetc5 will be down on the farm with us tonight! He'll be giving a baby alpaca a health check," the post read. In the clip, Helen explained they were giving the baby alpaca, known as cria, a health check but this didn't make its mum very happy.
"I think she's fine, we should let her go," Helen insisted as she started to back out of the way of the adult alpaca. She then jumped up and let our a screech as Matt followed her to his feet. Helen explained that the mum spits when she's not happy and added: "That stinks!" Matt replied: "That one really got you, Helen," as the mum-of-three stood still and let out a faux cry.
@stuartrichardmoye.bert said: "Poor Helen..!!!…bless her..!!!…really looking forward to the show..!!!…" @char.gash75 commented: "Oh Helen I feel so sorry but that spit was so loud you could hear that a mile awayhope wardrobe department have a good washing machine." @sarah_e_bliss1986 added: "Shakira certainly does have a good aim , poor Helen."
