Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton has been having secret phone calls with Dan Walker to boost her chances of winning the competition. Former BBC Breakfast presenter Dan, who took part in Strictly's 2021 series, finished in fifth place alongside his partner Nadiya Bychkova.
Despite wowing the judges and audience on numerous occasions, the 45-year-old wishes he allowed himself to "enjoy it more" and doesn't want Helen to make the same mistake. He told The Star : "I know Helen Skelton really well and I've been talking to her quite a bit and I think he's been fantastic and I told her she's going to be there for quite some time.
"She rang me the week before she went on and I told her you have to go into it with her eyes wide open."
Speaking about his own time on the show, Dan added: "From my experience of it you have to enjoy it as much as you can and you never want to finish it and think 'Ugh, I wish I allowed myself to enjoy it more'."
Helen, 39, has been thriving in the competition, soaring to joint top of the leaderboard on Saturday (October 22) night alongside Hamza Yassin.
Performing the Charleston to the Blue Peter theme tune, Helen and her professional partner Gorka Marquez thoroughly impressed the judges, receiving 35 points for their fun routine.
The BBC Radio 5 Live host was grinning from ear to ear as she spoke to host Claudia Winkleman after receiving her highest score of the series.
This comes after Helen revealed she had moved her family back to her childhood town in Cumbria following her split from ex-husband Richie Myler.
The presenter confirmed she had relocated from Leeds where she and her rugby player ex used to live with their three children, Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and nine-month-old Elsie.
The star confirmed that her children being looked after by their grandparents as she splits her time between Cumbria and the Strictly studios in Hertfordshire.
