Helen Skelton admits she regrets dog's unusual name - which she let kids pick

Helen Skelton was comically overshadowed by her dog earlier this week, when she was forced to walk off during a live interview with Lorraine.

The 38-year-old Countryfile presenter had appeared on the ITV show to speak about her upcoming TV shows, following her split from estranged husband Richard Myler, who left their home just four months after she gave birth.

But despite everything they had to discuss, the noisy family dog stole the show.

Loud barking could be heard in the background, as she said: "I've got three small children and a very loud dog as you can hear."

Turning to her dog, who was off camera, she shouted: "Stop it! They time it perfectly, don't they?!"

Red-faced Helen got out of her chair to briefly sort the dog out and returned to explain: "My mum has come to stay for the week, because she doesn't live near, so she's got the kids off to school but she's forgot to put her granny magic onto the dogs, sorry!"

The TV star owns a fluffy crossbreed named Barney, who joined the Blue Peter team in September 2009, and later found a permanent retirement home with Helen when she left the show.

The 38-year-old's second family dog is a beautiful Labrador, with a remarkably unusual name.

Helen previously revealed it during an episode of Channel 5's This Week on The Farm.

On the programme, the presenters and farmers were discussing owners keeping their dog on leads, when Helen changed the topic by mentioning her pets.

"My dogs hate being on leads - Spiderman especially, Barney's not too bothered but you've got to do it for those lambs," she said.

Her co-star Jules gave her a puzzled expression, to which Helen replied: "What?", and Jules said: "Hang on, we can't let this go, I've known you a long time Helen but I didn't know you had a dog called Spiderman!"

Helen then admitted to regretting letting her two young sons, four-year-old Louis and six-year-old Ernie, name the family pet.

Helen recently gave birth to her third child, little Elsie (@ helenskelton)

She explained: "I have two children who I foolishly let name our dog - live and learn!"

Now, the 38-year-old mum amusingly has to call "Spiderman" across the field on every walk, and often has to specify that she's talking about her dog - not the Marvel character.

In a recent Instagram post, Helen spoke about the show and said: "Back on the farm this eve! Jules is on his jollies so Martin is joining the fun. Unfortunately Spider-Man (my dog) isn't making an appearance this eve but we will be with you 8pm."

On Lorraine, Helen revealed what life is like now as a single mum-of-three, following her shock split from husband Richard Myler, just four months after giving birth.

Helen had been with her husband for nine years before Richard, 31, "left the family home" following eight years of marriage.

He later began a new relationship with the daughter of the multi-millionaire President of the Leeds Rhinos club he plays for.

In an Instagram post, Helen shared the news of her separation and said: "We will be doing our best to co parent our small children."
