Helen Skelton reportedly hired a private investigator after becoming suspicious about her husband Richie Myler's behaviour in the months leading up to their split.
The 38-year-old Countryfile presenter shared on her social media last month that the rugby ace, 31, left her after nine years together.
Just last week, it was reported he had already started a new relationship with a new woman - 31-year-old Stephanie Thirkill.
According to a source, Helen suspected infidelity and later employed a private eye in a bid to uncover the truth.
"She felt something was amiss in her relationship with Richie," the insider told The Sun.
They continued: "Hiring a private investigator was the last thing she wanted to do, but she was left with no choice as she needed to know the truth.
"She has since reached out to Stephanie's ex to help each other communicate over the situation.
"Emotions are running high and the most important thing to Helen is looking after her three children and making sure they’re OK during the difficult split."
It's claimed Helen has since contacted Stephanie's estranged husband Richard Sugden, who lives in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, to compare notes on the timeline of the relationship.
The new couple have insisted their relationship started after Richie had split from Helen.
Helen and Richie married in December 2013, but split last month.
Meanwhile, Stephanie, 32, is a Rugby League fan and is the daughter of Andrew Thirkill, who is one of the richest businessmen in Leeds and has an estimated net worth of £175 million.
She has followed in her father's footsteps to become a successful businesswoman.
