Helen Skelton causes Strictly 'chaos' as studio audience go wild for final performance

While she didn't take home the Strictly Come Dancing trophy on Saturday night, Helen Skelton brought the house down, near causing a delay to proceedings as the studio audience reacted wildly to her final dance.

Helen and pro partner Gorka Marquez went into Saturday's final as second favourite with bookies, closing in on eventual Strictly winners Hamza and Jowita and also finished on the leaderboard on the night, three points behind Fleur East and Vito Coppola. While Helen and Gorka's first two dances in the final, a reprise of their jive and an emotional Show Dance, were both fantastic, it was their third and final number, their Couple's Choice from Musicals Week, that everyone had been waiting for and it certainly delivered.

When Helen and Gorka first performed the dance to Mein Herr from Cabaret, viewers at home took it as a not so subtle message to her ex husband Richie Myler and were also left angry when it didn't score 40 out of 40. There was nothing to fault in the routine as Helen and Gorka brought it back to close the Strictly final and the noise that greeted them when the music stopped was insane.

There were whoops and screams of delight all the way around the ballroom, as Strictly host Tess Daly tried and failed to bring everybody to order, and then, as Tess tried to hand over to judge Motsi Mabuse, the cheering broke out again, followed by loud chants of "Helen! Helen!"

After the judges did eventually get a chance to speak, they were all full of praise for the routine and, after not quite managing it first time round, Helen and Gorka finally got the perfect score they' been longing for, when even Craig Revel-Horwood gave a 10.
