Helen Flanagan’s life has taken a dramatic turn since her high-profile split from former footballer Scott Sinclair. Once living the dream with a thriving TV career, luxury home, and glamorous lifestyle, the Coronation Street star is now opening up about her financial and emotional struggles as a single mum of three.
This week, Helen revealed she’s been forced to sell the eight-bedroom home she shared with Scott, admitting she simply can’t afford to keep it. “It actually makes me sad that I’m going to be leaving soon,” she said, adding that she’d poured her savings into making the house beautiful. “But it’s a big house. It’s an eight-bedroom house, which is obviously really hard to keep on top of”, according to Lancs Live.
Her financial challenges came further into focus during a court case earlier this year, where she was handed a driving ban for speeding. Despite arguing that losing her licence would cause “exceptional hardship” due to the cost of taxis for her children, the ban stood. She told the court: “I’ve got enough money in my account to pay off my tax and my VAT and basically that’s about it.”
Speaking candidly, Helen admitted even something as simple as a £10 Uber to her son Charlie’s nursery was unaffordable if done regularly. “If I was doing that all the time, it would be very, very expensive for me,” she explained, reports the Mirror. She also said she needed her car to meet Scott halfway when their children visit him, though she added their current co-parenting situation is far from easy. “I’ve got a very difficult relationship with my ex-partner. It’s very, very draining.”

Helen hasn’t shied away from discussing her mental health either. Since the split, she’s opened up about her diagnosis with ADHD and a scary episode of psychosis caused by a bad reaction to medication. Her honesty has sparked huge support online, as fans applaud her vulnerability and resilience.
Despite returning briefly to I’m A Celebrity last year for a rumoured £300,000 payday, Helen says opportunities have dried up, and her income isn’t what it used to be. Her company’s accounts for 2024 showed just £75,000 left after tax.
Meanwhile, Scott’s career has also slowed. Once earning £55,000 a week, he’s now playing in the lower leagues, reportedly taking home around £2,600 a week — a far cry from his Premier League days. Helen’s story is a raw and real reminder of how quickly life can change, and she’s showing incredible strength through it all.
