Heisman Trophy Odds: Travis Hunter Pulls Away From Jeanty

Colorado’s two-way standout, Travis Hunter, is beginning to run away from his Heisman Trophy competition.

Projected as the possible 2025 No. 1 overall NFL draft pick, Hunter commands a substantial lead among potential Heisman candidates, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. The Panama City, Panama-based sports betting company listed Hunter (-400) as the overwhelming favorite to become college football’s top individual performer this season.

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (+350) was listed second and Miami’s Cam Ward (+900) was third.

Hunter showed early and late against Utah last Saturday why bookmakers favor him. In the first quarter, he showed instincts by intercepting a deflected pass. It was his third pickoff this season, matching his totals from 2023. Hunter athletically hauled in a fourth-down reception in the fourth quarter between two defenders. He also closed out the scoring with a 5-yard run.

For the season, Hunter has compiled 911 receiving yards and nine touchdowns as the No. 17 Buffaloes, who are scheduled to play at Kansas on Saturday.

Jeanty has rushed for 1,893 yards and 26 TDs.

Despite Recent Struggles, Michigan Seniors Go Out On Top

As the Michigan Wolverines struggle through a stretch in which the defending national champions has dropped four of their past five Big Ten games, the senior class remains poised to go out as the program’s all-time winningest class.

The 2021 recruits have compiled a 45-8 mark with two regular-season games remaining and possibly a lower-tier postseason contest. The Wolverines (5-5 overall), who host Northwestern (4-6) on Senior Day Saturday, need one win to become bowl eligible.

“They mean so much to the program,” Michigan coach Sherrone Moore said, as reported by the Detroit Free Press. “The record in the last four years – obviously this year not where we want to be – but to have that record is really big. Guys that have really impacted our program in a huge way, in a positive way, and so thankful for them and want to go out on a high note, especially their last game in the Big House.”

Michigan’s 2021 recruiting class, highlighted by five-star quarterback J.J. McCarthy, ranked No. 13 by 247 Sports. Over the past four seasons, the Wolverines captured three consecutive Big Ten championships and the 2023 national title. They also beat the rival Ohio State Buckeyes the past three seasons.
