Heinz has decided to come up with a new way to hold it's world-famous tomato ketchup. The multi-billion dollar company has developed a sustainable paper packing for its condiments.
The plastic ketchup bottle may soon be a thing of the past as more and more company are making decisions which could help save the planet. The new paper bottle is made from 100% sustainably-sourced wood pulp, reported Grocery Gazette.
They have worked with sustainable packing company Pulpex and Heinz have declared that is is “the first sauce brand to test the potential of Pulpex’s sustainable paper bottle packaging.” Kraft Heinz Company owns Heinz and is currently working towards many environmental goals.

The aim is for all packaging to be recyclable, reusable, or compostable by 2025. Kraft Heinz CEO Miguel Patricio hopes a paper ketchup bottle can help them achieve those goals and reach a net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Mr Patricio said: “Packaging waste is an industry-wide challenge that we must all do our part to address. We are committed to taking steps to explore sustainable packaging solutions across our brands at Kraft Heinz, offering consumers more choices.
“This new Heinz bottle is one example of how we are applying creativity and innovation to explore new ways to provide consumers with the products they know and love while also thinking sustainably.”
The new packaging won't be hitting supermarket shelves just yet, Heinz intends to be the first company to sell a product in this way. “We hope to bring this bottle to market and to be the first sauce brand to provide consumers this choice in their purchasing decisions, as they look for more sustainable packaging options,” added Kraft Heinz executive Rashida La Lande.
Pulpex CEO Scott Winston said: “When global household names like Heinz embrace this type of innovative technology, it’s good news for everyone — consumers and the planet.”
