Heidi Montag says she's started eating raw meat after trying to get pregnant for a year

Heidi Montag is taking a new approach to the fertility issues she was experiencing by turning to a raw meat diet.

The 35-year-old star of The Hills is looking to give a sibling to her four-year-old son Gunner, who she shares with husband Spencer Pratt.

But after spending 18 months trying to conceive, Heidi has decided that drastic action is needed and she feels cooking her meat might have been hindering the process.

The reality star has now become an 'extreme carnivore' in a bid to get pregnant, and sooner rather than later.

Speaking to People, Heidi revealed her plans when it comes to tucking into some raw liver and how she hopes it will help achieve this big life goal.

She said: “I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year and a half. I’m willing to try different thing.

“It’s a great source of nutrients! I have felt incredible on this diet. A lot more energy, clarity, increased libido and overall improvement on chronic pain I have had.”

Heidi hinted that she now carries bags of meat when she goes out, just in case she is feeling peckish or is in need of giving her baby chances a boost.

The Hills star said that it was her interest in "anthropology" that has helped drive this as she loves “trying new things” and and is keen to explore “the way humans are meant to eat.”

Heidi explained: “When you think about where the most nutrients are that are bioavailable to humans without toxins, organs are very nutritious parts of animals.

"Culturally organs are a critical part. Eating raw liver is going to preserve as many nutrients as possible.”

She has been pictured tucking into raw liver, bison heart and also nibbling bull testicles, comparing the desire for raw meat to eating sushi.

Heidi argued: "I just happen to like eating sushi-style organs."

In August 2021, Heidi underwent hysteroscopic polypectomy surgery in the hope that will give her more chance of conceiving, before turning to raw meat for the answer.

Speaking on her YouTube livestream, Heidi said: "I’m hoping that this surgery works and that this is the only reason I haven’t been able to get pregnant.

"Hopefully after this, I can get pregnant right away."
