Several people have been injured after a lone gunman opened fire at a university lecture theatre in Germany.
The incident happened in Heidelberg, in the south-west of the country.
Police said in a statement that the perpetrator was dead but did not give details of how that happened.
They had earlier asked people on Twitter to avoid the Neuenheimer Feld area of Heidelberg, where the city’s university is located.
Police did not specify how many people were wounded or how seriously.
The Mirror reported a police statement as saying: "A single perpetrator injured several people in a lecture hall with a long gun.
"The perpetrator himself is dead.
"Colleagues are still on site with strong forces."
