Heida Reed bids farewell to FBI: International in season premiere

FBI season 6

In a surprising twist during the season 3 premiere of FBI: International, fans bid farewell to Heida Reed's beloved character, Jamie Kellett. The episode, which aired on CBS, saw Jamie's departure from the Fly Team. Despite her exit, Reed expressed her gratitude towards the fans for accepting her character into their hearts.

Taking to Instagram, Reed shared behind-the-scenes photos from the season premiere. Among the snapshots was a picture of herself amidst the debris after Jamie got caught in a bombing at the FBI international headquarters. In another photo, Reed posed alongside her original castmates Luke Kleintank, Carter Redwood, and Vinessa Vidotto. The newer additions to the cast, Eva-Jane Willis and Greg Hovanessian, were also present in the photo.

The comments section of Reed's Instagram post overflowed with love and support from her co-stars. Redwood wrote, 'Love you,' to which Reed responded, 'Love you too, my friend.' Willis also showed her affection by posting three hearts.

Fans had mixed feelings about Jamie's departure, with one expressing disappointment, stating that they loved the character and believed the show wouldn't be the same without her. Another fan voiced sadness, declaring that Reed had made the show what it was. A third viewer couldn't imagine Jamie's romantic relationship with Scott, the FBI leader, coming to an end.

Reed had been a part of FBI: International since its debut in 2021. It was reported in December 2023 that she would be leaving the show sometime during season 3. While CBS did not confirm the news at the time, the season premiere provided the answer fans were waiting for. Jamie announced her decision to leave the Fly Team and pursue a career opportunity in Washington, D.C.

In the final moments of the episode, Jamie bid farewell to her coworkers, revealing her promise to her late sister, June, to live her life to the fullest. She acknowledged that she had accomplished many things, including serving her country and finding love with Scott, but confessed that she had been running away from her grief. Now, she felt it was time to go back home.

Jamie shared a heartfelt moment with Scott at the train station before boarding her train. The message on her hand, which she had written to herself earlier, turned out to be her sister's name. With that, Jamie started her journey towards the next chapter of her life.

Alongside Jamie's departure, the episode introduced a new character, Special Agent Amanda Tate, played by Christina Wolfe. Amanda will be joining the team in Jamie's absence and during Raines' recovery from his foot injury.

FBI: International continues to captivate audiences with its thrilling plotlines and compelling characters. Tune in to CBS on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET to catch all the action.
