What’s new: Yan Pengcheng, secretary-general of the Hebei provincial Communist Party Committee, has been appointed deputy director at the Office of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission, the top body under the CPC Central Committee in charge of leading and supervising national economic work.
The appointment was made public in a statement released Tuesday by the Central Committee’s International Liaison Department, which named Yan in his new role while announcing his attendance at a symposium hosting visiting members of the Brazilian Workers’ Party in Beijing.
Yan, 51, is the youngest of the four deputy directors at the office of the party’s top economic decision-making body, which is headed by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng.
What’s more: Yan was a standing committee member and secretary-general of the Hebei provincial Communist Party Committee after he stepped down as the vice governor of the province in May.
Before moving to Hebei, he worked at the National Development and Reform Commission in Beijing for nearly six years as head of the commission’s economic research unit and later director at the department of national economy.
He earned his master’s degree in political economy from Peking University.
