World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will defend his title against fellow Englishman Dillian Whyte for his next bout.
Fury's British promoter, Frank Warren, won the purse bid for Fury's mandatory defence of his WBC heavywight title with Warren's bid of $US41,025,000 ($58,737,263) proving to be enough to land the blockbuster bout.
As a result, Fury is expected to fight on home soil for the first time since 2018.
Fury will receive an 80/20 split of the purse, with the champion expected to take home $US32 million and Whyte will receive $US8 million for the blockbuster showdown.
"Queensberry and Top Rank are delighted to announce that WBC and lineal world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will defend his titles against Dillian Whyte following today's purse bids," Warren tweeted on Saturday.
"A venue and date for the fight will be announced in due course."
The announcement has ended speculation that Fury would face Oleksandr Usyk in a unification bout, with Usyk expected to rematch Anthony Joshua.
A bout between Fury and the Usyk-Joshua winner has the potential to be the biggest heavyweight fight of the century.
But Fury will have his hands full against the dangerous Whyte, who has impressive wins over top contenders Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin, as well as two rugged wins against Derek Chisora.
The all-British battle could possibly be held at Wembley Stadium in front of a crowd of up to 90,000 patrons.
Fury has never been in better touch— after his two wins over Deontay Wilder — and has already begun to throw barbs at his opponent.
"I can't wait to punch Dillian Whyte's face right in mate," Fury said in a twitter video.
"I'm going to give him the best hiding he's ever had in his life, boy. Dillian Whyte, train hard sucker 'cos you're getting annihilated, bum."
