Ireland is set for a wet and windy week ahead according to the national forecaster, however, some days will see more sunny spells and only some showers.
Although mainly a wet and windy week, temperatures have continued to rise since the bout of cold weather hit Ireland recently, which saw schools close and roads turn treacherous. Despite this, there is one day later in the week when a cold night will set in, bringing temperatures of between 0C and 4C.
From today (Wednesday) until Sunday night, here is everything you need to know about Met Eireann’s forecast for the week ahead:

Wednesday
Wednesday morning will be blustery with some sunny spells and well-scattered showers. According to Met Eireann, these showers will mainly affect west Munster, Connacht and Ulster.
Moving into the afternoon, however, the showers will become more widespread across the country, merging into longer spells of rain in places. Some of the showers will be heavy with hail and lightning possible.
Top temperatures of 9C to 12C in fresh and gusty south to southwest winds, strong on windward coasts with the potential for wave overtopping around high tide.
Overnight will be fresh and breezy with clear spells and blustery showers, the showers most frequent across the western half of the country. Lowest temperatures of 3C to 7C.
Thursday
Thursday will see another day of sunny spells and showers. Some of the showers will be heavy and prolonged bringing the possibility of hail and lightning.
Maximum temperatures of 10C to 13C in fresh and gusty southerly winds with the potential for wave overtopping around high tide.
Moving into the night it is set to become increasingly windy with showers and longer spells of rain pushing in from the Atlantic. Lowest temperatures of 4C to 7C.
Friday
Heading into the weekend, Friday is set to be a windy day with widespread showers, some heavy and prolonged, especially in the west and north of the country.
There is a continued chance for hail and some thundery downpours. Highest temperatures of 9C to 12C with strong and gusty southwest winds, veering westerly later.
Showers will become mostly confined to Atlantic coastal counties on Friday night with long dry and clear spells developing elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 3C to 6C.
Saturday
Saturday looks set to be a day of sunny spells and scattered showers. However, there is the chance of a spell of more persistent rain affecting southern counties for a time. Highest temperatures of 10C to 13C.
A colder night is forecast for Saturday night with clear spells and isolated showers. Lowest temperatures of 0C to 4C.
Sunday
A bright and rather chilly day is expected on Sunday with sunny spells and a few passing showers. Highest temperatures of 7C to 10C.
