The rain has finally returned to Wales after weeks of uninterrupted sunshine and it was causing significant disruption on Sunday evening. There has been flooding in some parts of the country, and some disruption to Father's Day events.
In Wrexham, there has been flooding at the city's Racecourse ground, the home of Wrexham AFC, resulting in the evacuation of part of the ground which was being used to put on a Father's Day lunch.
The 1864 Suite was evacuated during the third sitting of today’s Father’s Day meals. The club explained how in the wake of the torrential rain that hit the region late this afternoon, some structural damage resulted in a large leak inside the Macron Stand reception area. A statement read: "All diners were evacuated from the Suite on safety grounds, with the Fire & Rescue Services contacted. Everyone inside the stand at the time was successfully evacuated.
"All guests who were part of the third sitting will be contacted by the Club, and we share their disappointment that – after two successful sittings – circumstances beyond our control have disrupted our plans for the evening. We will assess the situation in the Macron Stand, to ensure we can get everything back up and running as soon as possible."
Flooding has caused issues across the city, with a statement from North Wales Police to its followers on Twitter reading as follows: "We are receiving numerous calls regarding flooding in the Wrexham area, some roads are currently impassable. We have alerted Highways, can you please take care on the roads and delay your journey if you can."
In Cardiff, the rain has caused some interruption to the second day of Pride Cymru, with the event at Cardiff Castle having to be temporarily stopped for around 15 minutes as a result of the adverse weather.
Posting on social media, organisers wrote earlier today: "Due to an incoming weather event, to protect health and safety of all - we have had to temporarily stop all activity at Cardiff Castle. No further entry will be allowed until further notice."
They added later on: "Following further advice from the Met Office, we are restarting the show. Only the Main Stage will be open with the community stage, markets, family and youth area closed until further notice."
The Met Office says that those living in Wales will experience cloudy weather with some showers first thing on Monday, June 19. It adds: "Cloud gradually breaking to give sunny spells and further scattered showers, locally heavy and thundery. Feeling warm and humid with light winds. Maximum temperature 23 °C."
As for the outlook for Tuesday to Thursday in Wales, it adds: "A mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. These heavy and locally thundery with gusty winds at first, though becoming drier on Thursday. Staying warm and generally quite humid."
