SCOTLAND's heatwave has led to problems on the railway between Glasgow Queen Street and Hyndland stations.
Network Rail Scotland has reported on Twitter that the extreme temperatures have caused an electrical fault with the overhead lines.
Workers have had to request a "line blockage" due to the situation while they investigate and have promised to keep travellers updated.
The mercury has rocketed in the city with some areas seeing temperatures close to 30C on Monday.
High temperatures coupled with strong sunlight can cause issues for the rail network as it can lead tracks to expand and buckle and overhead lines to sag.
Network Rail has introduced speed restrictions on some lines in order to keep the country moving and has asked passengers to play their journey carefully.
ScotRail has said space on trains returning from the Ayrshire coast later on Monday will be limited due to an influx of people looking to enjoy the rare sunshine.
