Heartstopper season 2: release date, trailer, and cast

Here is everything we know so far about Heartstopper season two.

The hit Netflix show follows schoolboys Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor), who's unlikely friendship develops into something more. The coming-of-age story captured fans' hearts with its portrayal of their queer love story.

Netflix has now announced the release date for series two with a behind the scenes video, featuring all our favourites from the first series of the show. Netflix also tweeted an image from filming the show of Charlie and Nick hugging, with the caption 'Something shifted".

When is Heartstopper season 2 coming out?

Netflix has announced the release date for the new season is Thursday, August 3. All episodes of the series will be released together, as is typical for Netflix original series'.

Who is in Heartstopper season 2?

Netflix's announcement video has confirmed that a few familiar faces will be returning for season two, including Joe Locke and Kit Connor starring as Charlie and Nick. Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell will also return as Tara and Darcy, and Yasmin Finney is back as Elle.

Olivia Coleman will also return as Nick's mum, as well as Rhea Norwood as Imogen, William Gao as Tao, Tobie Donovan as Isaac, and Sebastian Croft as Ben. Alice Oseman, who created the graphic novels that the TV is based on, is also returning as writer for the show.

New cast members will include Jack Barton as David Nelson – Nick’s homophobic older brother, and Leila Khan has been cast as Higgs student Sahar Zahid. Bradley Riches will play James McEwan, a student at Nick and Charlie’s school, and British theatre star Nima Taleghani will be playing new teacher Mr Farouk.

Where is the trailer for Heartstopper season 2?

Netflix hasn't released an official trailer yet, but it did tweet a teaser video about season two, including some of the cast members discussing their character arcs for the season.
